How Saves-A-Gate works
"I believe that it reduces hook up time by 15 to 30 minutes"
If you are not using a Gooseneck attachment and have a regular 5th Wheel and King pin setup on your vehicle, The Saves A Gate tether needs to be extended to avoid damage.
After you connect the trailer and close the tailgate, there are two options you can choose from:
Lengthen the Saves A Gate tether: This means adjusting the length of the tether to make it longer. By doing this, you allow more space for the tether to move when you make turns with your vehicle. It prevents the tether from getting strained or damaged due to the difference in the turning radius between your vehicle and the trailer.
Disconnect the Saves A Gate tether from the tailgate: Alternatively, you can completely detach the Saves A Gate tether from the tailgate. This removes any possibility of the tether being affected by the turning radius and eliminates the risk of damage.
The main idea is to take precautions with the Saves A Gate tether to ensure it doesn't get harmed when you turn the vehicle, as the difference in turning radius between your vehicle and the trailer can put strain on it.
